Pink bumps on my dog's chin. Anyone know what they might be?

by Jeniffer
(Tucson)

My sweet boxer mix has some pinkish bumps in a cluster on her chin. She had recently gotten some cactus in her foot so I thought it may have been from her trying to get it out with her mouth. However they seem to be getting larger. At least one of them opened today. It doesn't seem to hurt her and Ive been rubbing vit E on it daily plus giving her echanacia and goldenseal. Anyone who may know what this is please help.

My Dog has this
by: Anonymous

My dog had this. It is a form of infection from the stainless steel dishes we were using. The vet had me change to porcelain dishes washed frequently to prevent it from happening.

Ingrown hair
by: Brandon

My dog also had this she is 1 year old. There said they were ingrown hairs. They lanced them and sure enough there was a hair in each one and pus. But they said it could also be infected pores from chewing plastic.

It’s totally normal people.

Took my dog to the vet to get these bumps checked out. They are red and blister/pimple like just as the picture displayed by OP. Vet said this is very common, dogs get acne and not to be alarmed unless they are occuring with other symptoms. Totally normal!

Most likely due to allergy
by: Anonymous

My dog has raised oval red bumps under his chin. This in addition to the redness in his paw pads that I took him to the vet for.
We both believe it is due to allergy. Reportedly only 2% of allergies in dogs are due to food. Most are environmental...pollen, grass, insect bite reactions.
The vet's diagnosis (and this is before I noticed the chin welts with redness) was digital dermatitis brought on by allergy. She also gave me medicine to squirt between his toes and on his paw pads.
She said if this doesn't work, we will try a more aggressive approach (I believe, a prednisone shot).

My dog has had the same thing. And it turned out to be cheylettie mites. Which I managed to cure by accident with colloidal silver spray. Finally after 2 yrs of hell, my pups and myself are completely cleared up. Got the spray from chewy.com

Chin bumps
by: Anonymous

My Staff has gotten them not only on his chin but other places too. My vet said it's most likely a food allergy and recommended Benadryl 1 mg per pound. And "Shreiner's Herbal Solution for horses & farm animals". Found out he's allergic to poultry, but he still gets them once in awhile. The Shreiner's works GREAT on most skin conditions!

plastic water bottles cause 'pimples'
by: Ruby's Mom

I called the vet to see if my dog's pimples on her mouth should be looked at. The attendant at the clinic asked if my dog chewed plastic water bottles. I said yes....she is a professional. He said take away the plastic bottles and see if it clears up......BINGO......no more plastic bottles to play with.

Stranger bumps on doggie mk
by: Anonymous

Ive seen this on a few of my dogs over the years. Its not acne. Definitly not. Each bump seems to pull the skin into it in a line like a string thru a jacket. Its very strange and i havent found an answer for it myself yet so im checking here.... check and see if your dog has like lines of tight skin going up to the bump or just before the lip??? I use steel nowls and wash my dogs face daily and have tried many things but im stuck. So any help would be much apprrcated. They dont seem to hurt either...

Trouble with my dogs chin bumps. Help please!
by: Anonymous

My GSP had had bumps on his chin for a couple of months now & he's only 8 months. He loves to chew on sticks & wood outside. Could this be the culprate & what can I use on the bumps to heal them up that won't harm him? He's still a puppy & an outdoors manly man dog & gets into everything & loves to eat grass as well. Help please!

Red bump/pimple on chin
by: Anonymous

My almost 8 month old German shepherd puppy has this red pimple like bump too. I'm into essential oils so I've been applying a roller ball mixture of either lavendar with coconut oil or frankincense with coconut oil. The bump is healing and her hair is growing back!

acne

My neo mastif had this. But it smelled really bad. The vet said it was dog stagh infection. She was 6 months old when it started. She died at one year old of lymphoma cancer. I dont think it was connected to the infection. Still heart broken.

Bumps under dogs chin
by: Anonymous

My German Shepherd is a year old and has had those bumps since he was six months old. The vet says it sounds like canine acne. It will heal in time, Just keep the area clean with soap and water and to get stainless steel bowls, plastic bowls get dirty and jagged edges if the dog chews on it. If they become
more swollen painful or bleed take your pet to the vet to get an antibiotic. My dog is o.k and his chin is beginning to clear up. I've been using a medicated anti itch shampoo to keep him from scratching his chin. Good Luck.

My boxer mix also has these bumps. she is 9 months old and they don't seem to hurt her but they look like they could become infected if I don't heal them soon. Please post a solution if anyone has any information that can help.

Thanks

boxer bumps
by: Anonymous

Guess what! It’s dog acne. I guess boxers are prone to it. I used peroxide and bacroban cream daily and it was gone within a week. In some cases it can get seriously infected so if it looks really bad and your home treatments aren’t helping you might need to take him to the vet.
Good luck.
