Roxie did that for several months and my vet had me give her antihistimines. However, my family and I noticed that she only did it when she got excited... I stopped the drugs and if she starts in I just sit with her, calm her down and give her lots of reassurance that everything is okay. She has responded well to this and since they tend to be hyper breeds I am convinced it was more mental than physical with her. She almost never does it anymore. It may have been an attention getter like a child might use.

Reverse Sneezing by: Ginny
My two Border Collie mixes (litter mate brothers) used to do "reverse sneezing" until I got the EarthCalm home protection unit. The day I plugged in the unit, within 20 minutes the reverse sneezing started again with one of them. I unplugged the unit for about 20 minutes then plugged the unit back in - and ever since then (two years ago as of this writing), no reverse sneezing! (fingers crossed!)
My two cents. Ginny

About Reverse Sneezing... by: Lois
I have a Malti-Pom named Bobo. He's Maltese and Pomeranian. I have had him since he was 10 weeks old.
When he turned 6 months I brought him in to have him neutered. I took him to the animal rescue league. When I brought him home I noticed he was making this awful sound. It almost sounded exactly like someone that had been smoking too long. I know for sure, Bobo doesn't smoke but definitely has what you mentioned. I learned from "You tube" on a few different videos, that Bobo, had the reverse sneeze. I really thought it was that kennel cough at first because he was at the pound getting the neutering and shots. I had never even heard about reverse sneezing in a dog and found it's something quite a few dogs have. I do know he came back with this after he was neutered.
He was starting to do this every day. I know what it is and know it's not life threatening to have this but it really does help to pinch off the nose. It stops the reverse sneeze almost immediately. Thanks for writing about it. Your friend in dogs, Lois
