Border Collie with stiff hind legs

Hello pet-lovers -

We have a much loved 6 year-old Border Collie who has always been an incredibly active and bouncy dog. Recently though his back legs have been noticeably 'stiff', especially if he has been sitting or lying down for a long time, and it seems to me, when it's been raining. When he limbers up however he soon seems fine, and doesn't seem to be displaying any pain.

I'm wondering first if this is something we should take him to the vet for (I think I will), and secondly whether anyone has any advice on simple lifestyle changes that might make him more comfortable - a change in diet, supplements, a different exercise routine...?

We love him so much and don't want him to be in pain. Thanks in advance for your comments and advice.

Try this

My sister and her husband had a lab with terrible pain in the back legs, they tried alfalfa and yucca powder in her food and it made a tremendous amount of difference, dog was able to run and sniff like she did before all the pain. I have recommended this to others I met when dog walking and they too have seen a tremendous reversal in their pet.

It sounds a bit like Arthritis setting in

My Rottweiler Chevy started to stiffen up after exercise and then laying for a while. Turned out to be uncle Arthur setting in.

My chiropractor suggested starting him on MSM (natural sulfur supplement), and it made a world of difference.

Then I found this site with the Flexasure product, which has an MSM base, and a lot of other great stuff, as well as being a liquid, which helps with bio-availability (ability of the body to absorb it).

I've proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that it works! Try it, you won't be sorry. . .

My gold lab mix was having the same problem and it was suggested to give her Liquie Health equine/canine 5000. this is all natural and was recomended by a breeder. My dog is doing wonderful on this..You can find it only in specialty pet stores..Im sure they have a web site that might help..Good luck
